MOON BRIDGEHoi An, Vietnam 2022Our initial concept for a pedestrian footbridge in Hoi An, Vietnam. Every month the towns city lights are switched off to celebrate the full moon festival. Locals and visitors flock to the riverbanks to release candle lit floating lanterns whilst wishing for happiness, luck and love. The centre of our bridge gently provides access down to the water in the form of a miniature stepping amphitheatere. A canopy above includes a ‘moon’ LED light box that mimics the various phases of the moon, allowing residents to easily chart the upcoming full moon. A crossing that provides a cultural function for the neighbourhood. Winner of Best Public Space, VMARK Vietnam Design Awards 2023  |
